Two large specimens of Common Lime, Tilia x europaea, stand next to the Bath House. They would have been planted around the time that the building was constructed – at a period when Lime trees were a popular choice for the gardens and avenues of stately homes.
They remain relevant to their current situation in the Physic Garden, as the flowers are valued by herbalists in the treatment of hypertension, digestive complaints and headaches.
